Assaults & Incidents

Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.


April 8-14, 2019

Algoa Correctional Center: At approximately 4:28 p.m. on April 8, 2019, an offender grabbed an officer’s arm through the food service port. The officer responded appropriately, and the offender was secured. The officer did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation will be issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.

Algoa Correctional Center: At approximately 6:45 p.m. on April 11, 2019, an offender punctured an officer’s hand from a piece of a tattoo gun. The officer responded appropriately, and the offender was secured. The officer received outside medical attention. A conduct violation will be issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.

Eastern Reception, Diagnostic & Correctional Center: At approximately 8:29 p.m. on April 8, 2019, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender bit the officers left index finger breaking the skin. The officer responded appropriately, and the offender was secured. The officer received outside medical attention. A conduct violation will be issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.

Jefferson City Correctional Center: At approximately 2:50 p.m. on April 12, 2019, an offender assaulted two officers. The offender struck one officer in the face and upper torso several times. The offender grabbed that officer’s pepper spray and sprayed two officers in the face. Staff responded appropriately, and the offender was secured. The officers did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation will be issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
