Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.


Jan. 6-12, 2020

South Central Correctional Center: At approximately 7 p.m. on Jan. 6, 2020, an offender threw an unknown substance, striking an officer in the right arm and torso. Additional officers responded, and the offender was secured. The officer did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.

Potosi Correctional Center: At approximately 10:50 p.m. on Jan. 8, 2020, an offender head-butted an officer. The officer sustained a cut on the right index finger. Additional officers responded, and the offender was secured. The officer did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.

South Central Correctional Center: At approximately 3:38 p.m. on Jan. 9, 2020, an offender assaulted three officers. The offender struck the officers in the head with closed fists. Additional officers responded, and the offender was secured. The officers received outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.

Southeast Correctional Center: At approximately 5:17 p.m. on Jan. 10, 2020, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender threw an unknown substance at the officer, striking the officer in the face, open mouth and body. Additional officers responded, and the offender was secured. The officer received outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.

South Central Correctional Center: At approximately 9:25 p.m. on Jan. 12, 2020, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender threw an unknown substance at the officer, striking the officer on the left side of chest. Additional officers responded, and the offender was secured. The officer did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
