Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.
July 27-Aug. 2, 2020
Missouri Eastern Correctional Center: At approximately 4:58 p.m. on July 28, 2020, 233 offenders took part in a disturbance. Staff responded appropriately, and the situation was resolved by 1:06 a.m. The facility was on lockdown, however has returned to normal operations. No staff members were injured. No offenders were injured. Conduct violations were issued.
Algoa Correctional Center: At approximately 11:38 p.m. on July 28, 2020, an offender assaulted two officers. The offender was charging toward an officer and struck another officer’s hands. The offender then lunged again at the officer. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. The officers did not require outside medical attention. Eastern Reception, Diagnostic & Correctional Center: At approximately 8:11 a.m. on July 31, 2020, an offender assaulted two officers. The offender struck an officer multiple times on the right side of the facial area and struck the other officer on the left side of the facial area. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. The offices received outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Southeast Correctional Center: At approximately 10:32 p.m. on August 01, 2020, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender threw an unknown substance at the officer striking the officer in the torso area. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. The officer did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
