Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.
July 30 - Aug. 5, 2019
Southeast Correctional Center: At approximately 8:43 a.m. on Aug. 2, 2019, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender struck the officer twice in the stomach through the food port. Additional officers responded and the offender was restrained. The officer received outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Northeast Correctional Center: At approximately 7:29 p.m. on Aug. 4, 2019, an offender assaulted several officers. The offender struck an officer several times in the hand with his food tray. The offender refused all directives to submit to wrist restraints. A movement team arrived and the offender continued to refuse to submit to wrist restraints. The offender spat on three officers, scratched one officer on the neck and another officer on the face and eye. Additional officers responded and the offender was restrained. The three officers that were spat on and scratched received outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
