Assaults & Incidents

Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.


June 17-23, 2019

South Central Correctional Center: At approximately 9:15 a.m. on June 19, 2019, an offender struck an officer in the face with a closed fist. Additional officers responded and the offender was restrained. The officer did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was be issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.

South East Correctional Center: At approximately 10:23 a.m. on June 21, 2019, an offender assaulted two officers. The offender ran toward an officer in an aggressive manner. The officer applied pepper spray to the offender’s facial area and slipped on the floor. The offender struck the second officer on the left side of the face knocking off the officer’s eye glasses and the officer fell on their right knee. Officers responded and the offender was restrained. The first officer did not require outside medical attention. The second officer required outside medical attention. A conduct violation was be issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.

Eastern Reception, Diagnostic & Correctional Center: At approximately 9:32 a.m. on June 23, 2019, an offender assaulted three officers. The offender struck an officer on the right side of the face. The offender attempted to kick staff and began spitting at staff. Additional officers responded and placed a spit hood on the offender. The three officers received outside medical attention. A conduct violation was be issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.

Farmington Correctional Center: At approximately 8:35 p.m. on June 23, 2019, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender poured an unknown liquid substance from a window in the housing unit, on top of the officer conducting outside security inspections. The officer received outside medical attention. A conduct violation was be issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
