Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.
Oct. 19-25, 2020
Potosi Correctional Center: On Oct. 19, 2020, an officer was assaulted by an offender. The offender threw a cup of urine and feces in the face and upper torso area of the officer. The staff member did seek outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Jefferson City Correctional Center: On Oct. 20, 2020, an officer was assaulted by an offender. The offender threw a food service tray at the office, then struck the officer in the facial area with closed fists. Staff did gain control of the offender. The officer did seek outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Jefferson City Correctional Center: On Oct. 21, 2020, two staff members were assaulted by an offender. The offender struck one staff in the facial area and upper torso with closed fists multiple times, then struck the other staff in the facial area. Staff gained control of the offender. One staff did seek outside medical attention and the other declined. Conduct violations will be issue for the assault.
Western Reception Diagnostic & Correctional Center: On Oct. 22, 2020, a staff member was assaulted by an offender. The offender struck the staff member’s hand. Outside medical attention was declined. A conduct violation will be issued.
South Central Correctional Center: On Oct. 23, 2020, two staff members were assaulted by an offender. The offender threw an unknown liquid at the staff members, striking one in the stomach and groin area, and the other in the right arm. Both staff declined outside medical attention. Conduct violations will be issued.
