Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.
Oct. 26 - Nov. 1, 2020
Missouri Eastern Correctional Center: On Oct. 28, 2020, during the course of an attempted escape, an officer was assaulted by an offender. The officer was sent via ambulance for outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Eastern Reception Diagnostic & Correctional Center: On Oct. 30, 2020, a staff member was assaulted by an offender. The offender head-butted the staff member. The staff member did seek outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Potosi Correctional Center: On Oct. 30, 2020 at approximately 9:21 a.m., an officer was assaulted by an offender. The offender struck the officer in the head/facial area with closed fists. The officer was sent for outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Potosi Correctional Center: On Oct. 31, 2020, a staff member was assaulted by an offender. The offender threw an unknown liquid substance at the staff member, striking him on the right side of his head/facial area, as well as his right arm. The staff member was sent for outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Potosi Correctional Center: On Oct. 31, 2020, an officer was assaulted by an offender. During a Response Team cell extraction, the offender pulled the officer’s helmet off and began striking him in the facial and upper torso area. The staff member was sent for outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Potosi Correctional Center: On Nov. 1, 2020, an officer was assaulted by an offender. The offender threw a cup of feces and unknown liquid substance on the officer, striking the left side of the officer’s body. The staff member was sent for outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
