Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.
Oct. 7-13, 2019
Algoa Correctional Center: At approximately 4:35 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2019, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender forcefully threw his identification card at the officer striking the officer in the left leg. The officer did not require medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Jefferson City Correctional Center: At approximately 8:08 a.m. on Oct. 12, 2019, nine offenders took part in a fight. Staff responded appropriately, and the situation was resolved and normal operations continued. Two staff members were injured. The left side of one staff member’s face was stepped on, including the officer's left eye. The other staff member came into contact with an offender’s blood through a laceration on his finger. Both officers received outside medical attention. No offender injuries have been reported. Conduct violations were issued. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
