Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.
April 22-28, 2019
Jefferson City Correctional Center: At approximately 11:10 a.m. April 27, 2019, two fights took place among offenders. Nine offenders took part in the first altercation outside of food service, and three took part in a second inside a dining hall. Two offenders sustained injuries requiring outside medical treatment. Both were treated and released the same day. Conduct violations will be issued for these altercations, and the incidents may be referred for prosecution.
Northeast Correctional Center: At approximately 8:10 a.m. April 22, 2019, an offender assaulted a staff member. The offender touched the staff member's breast and buttocks, subjecting her to physical contact without consent. A conduct violation will be issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Eastern Reception, Diagnostic & Correctional Center: At approximately 8:44 p.m. April 22, 2019, an offender assaulted a nurse. The offender grabbed the nurse by the arm and started pulling the nurse into the food port. Officers responded appropriately, and the offender was secured. The nurse received outside medical attention. A conduct violation will be issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Potosi Correctional Center: At approximately 2:24 p.m. April 24, 2019, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender grabbed the officer’s arms, pulling the officer through the food port door. Several officers responded appropriately, and the offender was secured. The officers did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation will be issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
