Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.
July 1-4, 2019
Moberly Correctional Center: At approximately 8:13 p.m. on July 01, 2019, eight offenders took part in a disturbance. Staff responded appropriately, and the situation was resolved by approximately 8:15 p.m. Normal operations are continuing. No staff injuries have been reported. No offenders were severely injured. Conduct violations will be issued.
South Central Correctional Center: At approximately 12:22 p.m. on July 02, 2019, an offender assaulted an officer. The officer was struck in the head by the offender with a closed fist. Additional officers responded and the offender was restrained. The officer did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was be issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
Eastern Reception Diagnostic and Correctional Center: At approximately 7:59 p.m., an offender assaulted an officer. The offender threw an unknown liquid substance on the facial area of the officer. Additional officers responded and the offender was restrained. The officer did seek outside medical treatment but has returned to work. A conduct violation was be issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
South Central Correctional Center: At approximately 4 p.m. on July 6, 2019, an offender assaulted an officer by causing him to come into contact with smoke in the cell. The officer required outside medical attention. A conduct violation was be issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
South Central Correctional Center: At approximately 10:50 p.m. on July 6, 2019, four officers were exposed to an unknown substance. The officers were transported by ambulance due to possible overdose, sustained while packing an offender’s property.
Farmington Correctional Center: At approximately 10:38 a.m. on July 7, 2019, an offender assaulted a nurse and a security aid. The nurse was struck in the facial area by the offender with a closed fist and the security aid was struck by the offender in the back, face and back of the head. Staff responded appropriately and the offender was restrained. Both employees did seek outside medical attention.
