Assaults & Incidents

Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.


July 13-19, 2020

Moberly Correctional Center: At approximately 11 p.m. on July 13, 2020, four offenders took part in a fight. Staff responded appropriately, and the situation was resolved within minutes. No staff members were injured. No offenders were injured. Conduct violations were issued. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.

South Central Correctional Center: At approximately 9 a.m. on July 15, 2020, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender threw urine at the officer, striking the officer on the right side of facial area and front of the officer’s shirt. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. The officer did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.  

Boonville Correctional Center: At approximately 7:39 p.m. on July 15, 2020, an offender head-butted the officer in the face, causing the back of the officer’s head to strike a steel door. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. The officer received medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.  

Eastern Reception, Diagnostic & Correctional Center: At approximately 10:33 a.m. on July 17, 2020, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender pulled the officer’s hair and attempted to kiss the officer. Additional officers responded, the offender was secured. The did not require outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
