Assaults & Incidents

Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.


Nov. 2-8, 2020

Potosi Correctional Center: On Nov. 2, 2020 at approximately 9:30 a.m., a staff member was assaulted by an offender. The offender pulled the staff member’s arms through the food service port causing injury to her forearms. The staff member was sent for outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.

South Central Correctional Center: On Nov. 3, 2020 at approximately 1:00 a.m., an officer was assaulted by an offender. The offender threw an unknown liquid substance at the officer, striking the right thigh area of the officer’s body. The officer declined outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.

South Central Correctional Center: On Nov. 8, 2020, an officer was assaulted by an offender. The offender threw an unknown liquid substance at the officer, striking the officer in the chest and stomach. The officer declined outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.

Eastern Reception Diagnostic & Correctional Center: On Nov. 8, 2020 at approximately 10:16 p.m., two officers were assaulted by an offender. The offender assaulted the staff with a prison made weapon causing several puncture wounds to one officer’s abdomen area and the other officer’s back. Staff gained control of the offender. Both officers were sent for outside medical attention. Conduct violations will be issued.
