Assaults & Incidents

Weekly advisories summarize serious assaults on corrections officers and other staff members in the line of duty as well as major disturbances and other significant incidents occurring in Missouri Department of Corrections facilities.


Oct. 14-20, 2019

Western Reception, Diagnostic & Correctional Center: At approximately 9:05 a.m. on Oct. 17, 2019, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender charged toward the officer striking the officer in the face several times. Additional officers responded and the offender was restrained. The officer received outside medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.

Algoa Correctional Center: At approximately 8:37 p.m. on Oct. 20, 2019, six offenders took part in a fight. Staff responded appropriately, and the situation was resolved and normal operations continued. No staff members were injured. Offender seen by on site Medical staff with no serious injuries noted. Conduct violations were issued. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.

Potosi Correctional Center: At approximately 12:32 p.m. on Oct. 20, 2019, an offender assaulted an officer. The offender struck the officer in the face with his foot and caused her face to smack the wing floor. Additional officers responded and the offender was restrained. The officer did not require medical attention. A conduct violation was issued for this assault. Any assault may be referred for prosecution.
