This notice is being made available due to recent changes to Missouri law affecting the eligibility of persons on probation or parole supervision to register and vote.
This notice does not guarantee your eligibility and does not serve as voter registration.
Under Missouri law, a person may still be prohibited from voting if the person is:
- confined under a sentence of imprisonment;
- on probation or parole after conviction of certain felony offenses identified in § 115.133, RSMo, including offenses under Chapter 566 or Chapter 573, or certain offenses listed in §§ 565.020, 565.021, 565.050, 565.052, 565.072, 565.079, 568.020, 568.045, or 569.160, until finally discharged from probation or parole; or
- convicted of a felony or misdemeanor connected with the right of suffrage.
The Division of Probation and Parole does not determine voter registration eligibility. Questions to verify eligibility status to register or vote should be directed to your local county clerk’s office, your local Board of Election Commissioners or the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office.
If you are eligible, Missouri law allows qualified citizens to register to vote in person at the office of their local election authority, at a driver’s license office, by mail or through other registration options made available by the Missouri Secretary of State or local election authority.
Persons on probation or parole supervision are responsible for ensuring that they meet all voter registration and voting requirements before registering or voting.
