The Missouri state-owned facility Western Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center (WRDCC) is comprised of approximately 18.08 acres in Buchanan County. There are 18 buildings on the facility grounds to including 11 housing units, medical and chapel, maintenance, staff training and more. The facility was constructed in January of 1996 on existing farmland and opened as a correctional center in 1998. WRDCC serves as an entry point into the Missouri Corrections system, offering a range of assessments to evaluate the needs of new residents for suitable placement. WRDCC has vocational opportunities available for residents to volunteer or work within or outside of the facility.
