Community Connections
The Missouri Department of Corrections gives back. Missourians in our facilities train rescue dogs for adoption, grow fresh produce for food banks, sew backpacks for foster kids and create specialty products for people with disabilities. Community members connect with offenders through volunteer work and collaborate on restorative justice projects.
Education & Training
The Missouri Department of Corrections trains and educates Missouri workers. We help offender students to develop basic literacy and adult education capabilities, earn high school equivalency credentials, learn job skills, earn professional certifications, and even take college courses. Education boosts justice-involved Missourians’ opportunities for employment and reduces the rate repeat offenses. Our programs also provide Missouri employers with the skilled labor force they need for in-demand trades.

Mo Reentry Process
Every year more than 19,000 Missourians are released from Department of Corrections adult institutions. Our reentry programs help give them the tools and skills they need to become successful citizens. We partner with community organization to provide programs for housing, education, employment, health care, treatment, life skills and family reunification, working to reduce risk and recidivism. About 95 percent of people who enter correctional centers ultimately reenter Missouri cities and towns. We want to make sure they're good neighbors.
